Professor Dr. iur. Dr. rer. pol. Christian Kirchner, LL.M. (Harvard) Prof. Dr. Chritian Kirchner began studying law and economics in 1965 in the cities Tübingen and Frankfurt/Main and at Harvard University and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Cambridge/Mass. Following his Magister in Legibus (LL.M.) at Harvard Law School he studied economics and Japanologie in Frankfurt/Main where he received his PhD in law in 1974 and his PhD in politics in 1977. This was followed by conducting research in Japan and teaching in Frankfurt, Berlin (FU), Heidelberg, Kiel and Bochum. He received tenure as a full professor in civil law, trade and economic law, international private law and comparative law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University, Frankfurt/Main in 1982. 1984 - 93 he served as Professor civil law and trade law Hannover University, while also researching at the Tohoku-Universität in Sendai (Japan) and the University of Berkeley, School of Law. Since 1992 he has been professor for civil law, European and International Civil- and Business Law and New Institutional Economics at the Humboldt-University Berlin.  

In addition to his current professorhip in Berlin he was visiting professor at various foreign universities and advisor in civil and economic law in many Asian and East Euroean countries. Prof. Kirchner is the author of numerous essays and publications.
